Subject: Legal and Illegal Transmitter Experiments

A number of messages have been posted here regarding experimental, multi-tens of watts transmitters to be used at 87.5 MHz. So far as I, the administrator of this forum, am aware, such transmitters are illegal.

However, if one wishes to do such experiments, amateur radio is the correct venue. Rules for obtaining the required license are available from the Federal Communications Commission and also from the American Radio Relay League in Newington, CT.
