I don't understand what you mean about the LM324 DC path. The + is the input from the LPF, and the - input is connected to the output by a 1M resistor, a diode, and a 1nF capacitor, both output and - are connected to ground via resistors and also there is a feedback connected to each.

There is a high DC gain in the circuit, but no obvious heat sources.
