Sounds like a thermal problem: The power supply current causes heating which changes Vbe voltage, which changes the power used, etc. This is common in low level circuits. perhaps converting to AC, amplify, then convert back to DC would be better? Are you using an IC amplifier? That should minimize the drift problem.
