The easiest method is to use a "closed-circuit"
power jack. These common DC power jacks have an
internal switch which opens an internal switch
on the outside conductor side. If you wire the
battery negative to that pin, the battery will be
disconnected whenever a plug is inserted.
Please note that if the AC adapter is not powered-
up, your circuit will have no power.
