I am trying to make a circuit that can trigger a cmos device(processor i/p pin) from a drum beat (snare/bass) out of a audio sample...
The obvious choice to me was to pass it though a low pass filter (below 120hz) and then look for the peaks of the circuit by creating an average and feeding the un averaged signal and the averaged signal into a comparator. This sort of works but not very effective, it will also produce a pulse when ever there is a large change in volume on anything below the low pass filter also it does not pulse when there is a lot of bass in the signal. DOH! Does anyone have any solutions that work reliably?
