I want to monitor/measure current on 3-6 lines of AC 120v, send the measurement to a serial port. I believe what I need is a toroid coil and an integrated circuit to convert the volts or mA received to a serial port. All I need are readings every minute or so. I can get the info from the serial port into a program. I need help on where to get the IC from, will I have to use 1 serial port for each line I want to measure?, are there IC's that will do the measuring and serial output? I'm really a programmer but I know I can build this if I could have some help on how.
