You might want to take a look at the Siemens BTS410 family of devices, which will
switch quite a few amps at the voltage you quote, and simply need two external resistors
to give adequate protection. I have used these in a avionics application with complete
success, we never even broke one during development test. But, the resistor in series
with the control input, and from the ground pin to circuit ground, as shown in the data sheet,
are important. I don't have the URL of the data sheet immediately to hand, but it is on the Siemens
web site.

If you want a switch contact to ground, not to the posistive supply, again Siemens have
the thing, BTS121A if I remember correctly.
