It is very simple to do that.
forward-using 'output controlled' buffered output
reverse-using 'output controlled' buffered inverted output.

For this you can use monostable or bistable latch, trancievers, etc. (with o/p enable pin)

Note:
Parallel port is not limited to 8 outputs.
