I am trying to develop a solid state on-off switch, which will either turn on or off the AC Power under certain conditions. This I am doing by logic control of the MOC, which in turn controls the Triac. The problem here being, the MOC is the most expensive component of the circuit, more than the Triac and delivery times from most suppliers is about 12 weeks.
So I was wondering if I can take a light dimmer circuit, eliminate the Pot/Preset, change the gate current to DC and control it from my logic
circuit. This circuit does not seem to be working, any help. Are there any other cheaper and elegant methods.
In the above circuit, MOC is very expensive, hence I was looking for other alternatives (maybe SCRs).
Any help anybody, Thanks ahead.
