The TLC549 data sheet shows a serial A/D converter whose operation is about as simple as such devices get which I very much like. I think you've made a good choice there.

Texas Instruments has a collection of application notes on the TLC549 and related devices at http://www.ti.com/sc/docs/products/analog/tlc549.html#App_Notes.

As far as Pascal is concerned though, I can't be of help there. Does anyone seeing this forum have suggeestions to offer?
