Can anyone point me to a circuit that will produce a tone, to be
transmitted via UHF and be decoded to turn on a vcr on the receiving
end ? I have been told a simple DTMF encoder and decoder would work
but I am not sure how to proceed.

I think this is what I need to do: motion sensor to tone generator to uhf transmitter to receiver to tone decoder to vcr record switch.
