You are right about the IF strip. I have done so, however to get a high gain from a transistor at 2V and say 10uA is not possible. I get a gain of about 50 to 80, when needing a gain of about 300000!!

My circuit uses a tuned LC and 1 transistor.

Also, the 455Kc IF stuff is difficult to find, if it can be bought at all!
