I am designing a circuit to automatically switch the transformer primary coils from 120VAC to 220VAC. To do this I use a DPDT AC coil relay to switch two primary coils of the transformer from parallel to series. The relay is energized on 220VAC, which places the transformer primary coils in series. But whevever the relay pulls in, there is an arc across the contacts. What can I do to stop it? Is there other method to do this? Thank you.
