Plastic films will shrink as they reach temperatures near their melting points. In the case of your application, it sounds like the temp's are above 400 F, which is near the point where polyester films become little blobs. Polyimide films I am familiar with do not shrink at all..well, very little at temperatures between 500-600 F. They may char, but they will not shrink. As such, they provide a stable base for labels like barcode labels, which need dimensional stability to work properly. I hope this helps.
