FEP or PFA heatshrink on coatings are the answer. The heat transfer is maximised by the shrink tubings continuing to shrink on to metal during use. Venting of the boundary layer between FEP and heater is very helpfull as hot spots due to trapped air or vapours are eliminated.

We have found that 0.5mm wall FEP is best comprimise, with maximum power out being 2 to 3 watts per Sq. cm.

The heat shrink can only be applied to straight lengths of heaters (ie normally during heater manufacture)
