Regarding PCB artwork, not too long ago, the advantages in PCB laypout of using a master aperture list was obvious: It eliminated errors at the board house caused by wrong entry of apertures. Now we have the new Gerber format with embedded apertures (RS274X), so there is no advantage there anymore.
But what about at the assembly stage? I would like your opinions. From the viewpoint of assembly: Are there any advantages for the assembly house regarding the PCB layout designer using a master aperture list?
