I have worked with Motorola on several occasions in their Electronics manufacturing,
but that is not what I based the line on on our website. I worked with them
mostly when I worked at a company called FASTech (Factory Automation Software
TECHnology). They purchased and used our CELLworks software product, for
Motorola Lighting, and several other sites (it might have made it into some of
their pager lines as well, not sure).
My personal interest these days is how to turn the manufacturing information
systems from large batch, push oriented systems, to customer order driven
pull oriented systems, including the capability to perform very flexible changeovers,
build to order, and providing all the data to cell controllers and operators required
at product changeover, component traceability, etc. I've done a lot of work
in the cell control and MES areas within electronics.
I'ld be looking for others with similar backgrounds/interests. I agree, it is
best to look across boundaries (or eliminate them), but the manufacturing
environment is a very rich and complex place, with a lot of different
types of expertise.
