Currently an equipment supplier is proposing the above as a structural member, welding the 17-4 in the ' A ' condition to the thermomechanically processed HSLA A 572 Gr 50 and then subsequently aging the assembly @1150 'F for four hours.

My feeling is that the 572 Gr 50 properties will be compromised from such a thermal cycle.

Does anyone have refernces or experience on such a design and its viability ?
