Could a correction to bios cause a lost of my xp os ?
P4, 2.4ghz system is about two months old, loaded xp system from oem cd myself (with a lot of difficulty!), but no problems until I noticed a wrong cpu speed and failure to "restart" - would shut down instead. Went into bios setup and reselected ram chips from pc100 to pc133 as originally set, noticed corect cpu speed, but then wham, bang! Goback removed itself, scandisk tried to fix things twice, by the time I remembered how to access safe mode, i had lost my system32 file according to the cannot start screen!
