I have a deskporte p model 28.8p external modem I recieved whithout the power supply. This modem uses an LM2575T-5 switching regulator with a 25volt capacitor with the + hooked to the center pin of the power in jack. This may indicate that it uses a 12 volt adapter.

The model is listed on the bottom of the modem in the upper right corner.
