I got similar problem, my toshiba cdrom drive not recognised after installing adaptec easy cd creator.

My WinXP reported :
Obsolete Application and Device Drivers
App/Device Driver Rows Name Manufacturer Help
CD Recording Software cdralw2k.sys Roxio, Inc. More Info
CD Recording Software cdr4_2k.sys Roxio, Inc. More Info

Try this:
1. Search for and rename the two files cdralw2k.sys and cdr4_2k.sys.
2. Click Start/Run and type regedit
3. Go to the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-1ÇE-BBFC1-08002BE10318 }
4. In the right bread, delete the following keys:
Lowerfilters
Upperfilters
I GIVE NOT delete the to entire { 4d36e965-e325-1çe-bfc1-08002be10318 } key
5. Restart Windows XP

It works for me now, I can access both toshia cdrom & liteon cdrw now.
