Right! my old computer had one hard drive on IDE1, and a CD burner as master and a CD rom as slave on IDE2. This setup worked very well..BUT now that I've rebuilt it using the same drives, CPU and memory, only adding another Hard drive to IDE1 as slave, the CD burner is very erratic!. I'm assuming now that there is a lot of noise on the busses, as I changed the cable to a 80 way (ATA5) and it works slightly better. Perhaps put on some ferrite chokes on the fan cables and/or the ribbon cables.
