Sounds like you may have one of several things going on. First and foremost, you may have affected your MBR (master boot record.) The other thing may be a problem with the computer itself (whether BIOS, hard drive controller or even a hard drive issue). The easiest way to trouble shoot this problem would be to hook up another hard drive and see if it shows up correctly in your system. Also, check to see if your hard drive is showing up properly in your BIOS as well as when you run chkdsk outside of windows. You could always try repartitioning the drive, but be aware that you will lose everything on the drive and you will need to back it up before hand.
