It is possible that your phone lines do not support 56k. Check with your internet service provider to see if they have a different number to dial into. What speed is your computer? You should crank your port speed up to the max under modem properties in the control panel. 3com offers a handy utility off of their web site that will allow you to dial into their number and see if your phone lines can support 56k. go to
