That's very interesting. I'd begun to wonder if I had something unique going on. Apparently, I don't.

I've simply learned to live with the phenomenon since I can get scans to happen if I'm willing to wait anywhere from a few moments until as long as twenty minutes. However, I just can't imagine what's going on inside the PC for all of that time.

All of my efforts to get the answer from HP and from Gateway were for naught. All they ever said was to reload the scanner software, so I did just that, but to no avail.

As you can imagine, I do not currently harbor any kind, gentle or charitable thoughts regarding either HP or Gateway.
