I had a similar problem when I install a new 56k modem. I was only getting 24,600 speed even though my ISP was 56k . I went to the website of the modem maker and downloaded new drivers for the modem. You have to go to the driver folder in the properties for the modem and save the old driver info to a separate folder in case the installation of the new drivers misfires so you will have the old ones that still work. Just put the new driver info in ththe place the old driver info was and they should work. I increased my speed from 26,400 to 33,700...not much but it shows that updated drivers DO help. Bob
