I use to sell to the coil coating industry. The best way to control your dry thickness on a moving coil line is a thin wheel type guage that is held between the thumb and forefinger it is pressed against the moving metal in the wet state and transfers the wet coating onto the wheel that is gratiated in mils. you should be able to tell what your dry thickness is going to be by calculating your solids content of the coating and adjust your nip.
