There are a few alternatives to injection molding which involve lower tooling expense.

There are two common methods to produce parts with lower cost tooling. FRP layup (open faced soft tooling) is commonly used to make valances, custom bodywork, spoilers, etc. Another method with has slightly higher tooling costs is resin transfer molding.

While FRP layup can be used for very low volumes (<100 parts per tool), RTM can be used be produce numbers into the 1000's.
