I'm curious as to the forum's opinion on the usefulness of textile preforms in high volume manufacturing. Such materials cost more than injection molded, but theoretically less than laminates. They have better mechanical properties than short fiber composites, but slightly worse than laminates.

These materials have been under investigation for a couple of decades, but still haven't hit high volume production yet.

Anyone have any thoughts about why the market penetration has not been realized yet?
