You can have some seepage with a synthetic. I have not found this to be the case on a newer engine with good seal.

I run a 15W50 synthetic in a 350 4bbl that is 23 years old. There was minor seepage. I cured this with a bottle of stop leak.

A Subaru should have seals that are fine for synthetic. To be 100% sure call or email Subaru corporate and ask them. Dealers are not a good source for info such as this. OEM refers to original equipment manufacturer.
