I once had an electronic shift outdrive. I know what you are going through.

Because of the electrical concerns you are stuck with the type c. All you can do is replace the seals. If you do go this route, make sure the seals you get are OK for type c.

I would be concerned with the extreme pressure additves in industrial gear oils interfering with your shifting.

Sorry I could not give you any options.
