What do you know about OMC Type C electric shift lower unit oil?
I've got an old 70 model that has some bad seals so water is
getting a bit. Its not worth it to fix it. Just replace
the oil often. These motors are getting a bit old so the
OMC brand oil is getting a bit pricey. Any suggestions on
using any kind of generic lube like transmisstion dexron or something
like that? As best as I can tell the main difference between
the type c for electric and other lower unit oils is that
it is like 75W and the others are 80-90weight. The only
other factor might be related to fact that it works with
electric solenoids. Maybe it has some better insulation
properties.
