Project Details: -
Underwater welding is an important tool for underwater fabrication works as no. of Offshore Structures including oil drilling rigs, pipelines, platforms etc. are installed significantly. Dry and Wet welding are the methods used. In dry welding, a chamber is created near the area to be welded and welder does the job by staying inside the chamber. In wet welding, welding is performed underwater directly exposed to the wet environment, the arc burns in a cavity formed inside the flux covering. The effects of salinity on weld metal were studied. Underwater welding was carried on M.S plates in a tank. The M.S plates were tested for mechanical properties and compared with that of surface welding. Also the effects of voltage current during welding were studied.
