I am doing some research work in the development of power distrubution systems for seagoing vesels.
The system will be microprocessor controlled monitoring currents and voltages throughout the vesel.

I am interested in using solid state relays to switch power to a system in the event of overcurrents or short-circuits in a particular piece of equipment.

How reliable are solid-state relays, what currents can they handle? I find it rather difficult getting good information on SSR's.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
