Do you have an Engineering Work Station? Assuming that you do and it is running WINCAD you can address the module MADR 0 or 1 depending on which is NPM is in stand-by.
It will show the the module status both in text description and in the hexdecimal code affiliated with the diagnostics run by the NPM.
I know this is very general, I need to know which version NPM you have, and its' revision level and I may be able to help you.
