I work in a large power station in the uk (the largest if that is a clue) and have been interested in power station operations for some time. I am also very interested in power station simulation. We have a simulator on site which is quite impressive. However I have been told that one can buy software simulators that will run on a pc. I have, however looked but the only ones that I can find cost about $20,000. Now I am quite well paid, but I think that 20k is stretching it. To this end I have tried to create a program myself. Unfortunately I am a Electrical/Instrument Engineer and not an operations engineer, and find it very difficult to simulate the conditions in a modern power station. So... to my point, which is: does anyone know where I can aquire a simulator that I can use on my pc. It is for my own personal use, and I do not have a big budget. Can anyone help please?
Also, We too have DCS and I am trying to get to grips with it. Is there any documentation on the internet anywhere that I can read to increase my knowledge?
Thanks
