Hi peoples. I'm knew. I'm building a basic vacuum evaporation system as part of my B.E (mech). I am boring some holes into my stainless base which my glass chamber will sit onto for piping inlets for a mechanical pump and nitrogen inlet. What diameter should i bore the two holes at? Perhaps i should bore them to standard piping size? Does anyone know standard piping size which I can buy in New Zealand? What material would you recommend for the pipes? additional info : my glass dome diameter is approximately 500mm.

any help most appreciated,
john.
