Don, Platinum absorbs hydrogen, silver absorbs oxygen and SiO2 absorbs helium. I don't know what the saturation concentrations are but I imagine they are less than 10 atomic percent. If you want to saturate them with the gas put them in the appropriate atmosphere, heat them to near their melting point for several hours, then cool rapidly. Don Mattox, Society of Vacuum Coaters
