I suggest you stick with the least complicated
process which would be evaporation of aluminum. A
sputtering or arc system would be more expensive
and probably only available as a rebuilt
metallizer or a new system. You can get by with a
48 inch dia. chamber with your low volume.
As to cost-you really don't want to know the
cost of even a 48 inch metallizer new. Their cost
is absurd except from sources like Russia. A used
48 inch unit will be in the $15,000 to
40,000 range. If you decide to go up to a 72 inch
metallizer, you will find a rather tight market.
I know of one coater at Applied Vacuum in England
that is available at a reasonable price. There are
several very good dealers in the U.S. that will
either have or can find coaters for you.
