I disagree. I believe it is possible. While you may not get total impregnation, pulling a vacuum on a chamber which contains the wood product submersed in your coating solution, it would evacuate the air within the wood. By slowly introducing atmospheric pressure, the coating would fill the voids in the wood. This same process is used for evacuating air from oil.

This, of course would not completely evacuate the product, but I have a feeling it would do what you are looking for.

Norgren manufactures a device called the SmartPump® that will pull a vacuum on a chamber using compressed air, check the vacuum and maintain the vacuum level electronically, minimizing compressed air usage. This would be ideal as it is fast and quiet, but any vacuum pump will do the job.
