I would suggest trying to use a modified water bottle as a belljar is not a very safe activity. A very thick glass is needed to withstand the atm pressure on the outside of the belljar. You will also require a mechanical rotary vane pump, which you can buy from BOC Edwards, to back the diffusion pump. 10-4 or 10-5 mbar should be OK for aluminum evaporation, which means you will need electrodes to feed power in and out of the chamber through a baseplate. Buy an Auto306 coater from BOC Edwards, it will do the job well, and safely.
