What an interesting idea!
You will have some fun in it.
I here would suggest you start it with evaporation coating. That is easier and cheaper.
You might need a diffusion pump to produce a high vaccum for clean and beautiful coating.
You still need some other things like vacuum gauge, heating element, power supply and so on.
You had better read some books before you start.
A book about vacuum technology and another one about evaproation coating are needed.
Because I do not have any material around me, I am not able to suggest you any specific book. Sorry for that.
