The Metalworking Resource Group (The Group) secured the Web domain http://www.metalworkingshops.com to promote the capabilities of Indiana machine shops. This growing alliance has been working together since 1998 to improve the visibility of Indiana metalworking companies to purchasing professionals and engineers at OEMs and Tier One suppliers. The Group is an offshoot of the Machine Tool Task Force, which was started by Indiana Business Modernization and Technology Corporation (BMT) in 1995.
Manufacturing accounts for nearly 31% of the earnings in the State of Indiana."The complimentary services within The Group provides a tremendous variety of opportunities for meeting a manufacturing need," according to Jennifer Browning, marketing director for The Metalworking Resource Group. "Networking among members has been one of the secondary benefits of the alliance."
The new Internet presence of The Metalworking Resource Group increases the awareness of members' services in the rapidly changing landscape of business-to-business ecommerce. Visit the Web site http://www.metalworkingshops.com for information about the alliance and a profile of every member and their services. A keyword searchable buyers' guide makes it easy to find an Indiana shop with the right capabilities for the job, from heat treating to metal spinning and tube bending. The previous address of http://www.bln.org/thegroup/ links visitors to the new location.
The Metalworking Resource Group also publishes a free, monthly electronic newsletter (ezine), the News Update. This ezine contains information about emerging trends in e-business, manufacturing, metal purchasing and production. "The Newsletter allows us to locate the lowest-cost suppliers for the small metal stampings we need. Thanks for sending the newsletter," Pierrette & Alan Rutz of SHF Microwave Parts Company.
