The Silicon Carbide Division R&D group located in Northboro, MA is seeking a
Senior Research Engineer to report to the Director of Research and Technology Development.

Skills and Requirements:
Skills associated with an advanced engineering degree (MS/Ph.D.) in Materials or a related field. Must have training or experience in most of the following fields: crystal chemistry, thermodynamics, reaction chemistry, heat transfer, and characterization (chemical and physical) of powders and grains. Must have good oral and written communication skills. Must be willing to travel and work with customers and foreign technical personnel. Must be able to handle multiple tasks at once and work as a part of a team. Should possess good computer skills and be familiar with statistics and experimental designs.
40% - Work with customers to qualify SGIC products and to solve their problems. Perform market driven product development and applications engineering.
30% - Develop new products and new processes.
20% - Improve the understanding and practice of SiC production.
10% - Solve technical problems arising in the production plants.
The incumbent will have multiple programs aimed at developing new grain and powder products mainly in SiC. The work will entail working closely with potential customers to qualify existing or new powders/grains made to specific tight sizing, shape, or physical/chemical/electrical property specifications. Some applications testing may be done either with a customer or in the lab with appropriate test equipment. Work with production plants to help solve problems or improve efficiency is part of this job.
