Title: Manufacturing Engineer Location: New Haven Area Connecticut Education: AS
Salary:$35,000-$52,000 Industry: Aerospace and Commercial Sensing Devices
We have a wonderful client on the Connecticut shoreline that designs and manufactures temperature
sensing devices (thermocouples, sensors, RTD's) and cables for aerospace (gas turbine/jet engine)
applications. The company is privately held, occupies 52,000 square feet and employs around 130 people.
We are looking for a manufacturing engineer to support and grow the cable manufacturing business here.
They have a separate area, 2000 square feet now, in which to make cables. The processes here are
braiding (they have a specialist who works with these machines), cutting, stripping, crimping and coating
(transfer molding of rubber to coat the cable). They would prefer someone with experience in a cellular
manufacturing environment. They have set up one large cell, but the challenge will be to change over set-ups
quickly, as different products are made. Some jig or fixture design experience would be helpful. The company
has its own machine shop and can build the fixtures on site. This is a true manufacturing job: work with design
to determine materials and how the product goes together, be part of the quote process, develop labor
estimates, write manufacturing op sheets (on the computer), develop standards and take out cost. THE
MANAGER WILL TRAIN A 2-3 YEAR LEVEL MANUFACTURING ENGINEER ON ANY OF THE
PROCESSES HE OR SHE DOESN'T KNOW! Someone from a stamping environment or connector company
might fit well here.
The company has tripled its sales in the last five years.Opportunity for advancement is very likely here.
