“IMAGE COMPRESSION AND DECOMPRESSION USING D.C.T (DISCRETE COSINE TRANSFORM)”
Synopsis: The amount of data associated with visual information in uncompressed form is enormous, requiring huge storage and bandwidth capacity. Data compression is the process of representing required information by a reduced amount of data. Encoding repetitive patterns as well as reducing redundant and irrelevant data achieves this reduction of data.
Detail: Direct Cosine transform (DCT) is a set of mathematical operations that include well known Fast Fourier transform as well as many others. DCT is currently used in the MPEG and JPEG standards. We have developed algorithms for improving the quality of images that have been compressed by partitioning an image block into blocks, converting each block to DCT coefficients and then quantising these coefficients.
Result: I have achieved compression ratio of about 93.6% and got decompressed image from just 6.4%. The programming has been done in ‘C’ and I have also implemented the project in Matalab. Matalab is a mathematical development environment, which has in-built library of mathematical and other functions, so that with very few instructions substantial results can be achieved.

The project has been done keeping in view the standards of the current evm and which is compatible with the Indian standards .The coding of the project has been done in vhdl (hardware description language) keeping in view the peripherals of the fpga .So I have
Used keyboard of the fpga and have multiplexed the keyboard to make it as control unit as well as the balloting unit. I have also added the feature of password in my unit when the result key is pressed it accepts password and if the password is correct then only it will show the result, this feature is not in the current EVM. Also no of voters in our case has increased it is 9999 and in the current evm it is 3840 only. Also the cost of our chip has lower down as
We have designed a single chip for both the units so our chip is more efficient and effective.

“Wireless Internet Network Communication Architecture” (W.I.N.C.A. about 3rd generation Mobile Phones).
Synopsis: This Communication Architecture is a Convergence of Wireless and Internet Network. As the Technology is changing rapidly so the speed of execution becomes main issue. The Currently available 2nd generation Mobiles Phones has speed of 14.4 Kbps and with the advent of 3rd generation phones speed has increased up to 384 Kbps for pedestrian users and up to 2 Mbps for the fixed users. Japans Telecommunication giant NTT Docomo has launched this Technology in October last year.
