ACADEMIC PROJECTS

B.tech Project: Modal analysis of twisted blade with varying twist angles using FEM.

Synopsis: The aim is to study how the twist angle affects the natural frequencies of turbine blade and to choose the optimum twist angle at which the natural frequencies are far away from the Operating frequencies by using FEM tool I-DEAS.

MINI PROJECT: Analysis of joint stresses in the pressure vessel using FEM tool IDEAS.

SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE:

1.worked as Design Engineer, in "IDOLA FORI LTD, Hyderabad", for a period of 6 months.

Nature of work:
As a Design engineer in a engineering design group, designing and 3d parametric modeling of product/components, according to the requirements/specifications/standards supplied by the customers. And creating part families of std./customize parts as per standards/specifications supplied by customers.

1.Title: Crankshaft

Environment: Pro/E 2001
Client: Eicher Motors Ltd.pithampur
Component functionality: The crankshaft converts the pistons up & down motion to rotary motion and transmits the energy to the engine.
Project discription: 3D parametric modeling & detailing

2.Title: Rocker Arm Cover

Environment: Pro/E 2001
Client: Eicher Motors Ltd. pithampur
Component functionality: It is mounted on the cylinder head to safeguard the interior parts and it gives a passage to pour the engine oil to the engine.
Project description: Solid Modeling & detailing

3.Title: Timing Gear Casing

Environment: Pro/E 2001
Client: Eicher Motors Ltd. pithampur
Component functionality: It safeguards the timing gear mechanism.
Project description: Involved in modeling of casting & machining component and Producing Detailing as per the customer's specification's & standards.


4.Title: Flywheel housing

Environment: Pro/E 2001
Client: Eicher Motors Ltd. pithampur
Project description: Involved in building the casting model and producing associative drawing.


5.Title: Camshaft

Environment: Pro/E 2001

Component functionality: It guides the inlet and exhaust valves to open and close at proper intervals of time at the suction stroke and the exhaust stroke.
Project description: Involved in modeling of casting component and producing associated drawing of camshaft. Building of cam profile is tedious job in camshaft The cam profile was designed keeping in view flexibility in future modification.

2. Worked as project assistant under Dr PUNEET MAHAJAN, Associate Professor in applied mechanics department in I.I.T Delhi for a period of 1.5 years.

PROJECT UDERTAKEN AS PROJECT ASSISTANT

Modeling and Analysis of a Motor Cycle Switch Case using FEM tool I-DEAS

Nature of work:
3-D contact analysis of the switch case assembly is carried out using I-DEAS. Finite Element Analysis reveals the critical regions susceptible for high stress concentration and hence failure is studied for possible improvements in strength. Fillets are added in the region of stress concentration and thickness of the shell is increased uniformly. Modified model is analyzed and stresses found within the acceptable limits.
Contact analysis requires high memory and computing time. Hence, an approximate technique is suggested for carrying out contact analysis without using contact elements. This technique is used to solve this problem and compared with contact analysis results. Both results found in close range to each other. Hence, this technique can be used for small scale industries. This technique will be efficient where time and memory constraints
