Title: Sr. Business Systems Analyst Status: Exempt, salaried
Reports to: CIO Revised Date: February 12, 2003
1) General Purpose:
The Sr. Business Analyst serves as a business partner to their functional management, providing a pro-active approach to analyzing business needs and translating them into effective IS solutions.
2) Primary Responsibilities:
a. Business process reviews – identify automation, simplification, and/or error reduction opportunities
b. Direct or participate on cross-functional project teams identified to design and implement business solutions.
c. Plan, conduct, and direct the selection of software applications pertinent to the assigned functional area.
d. Develop end-user training and documentation on system/application usage. Provide consultation and training as needed.
e. Serve as “owner” of the settings and options for specified systems.
f. Develop specifications for interfaces between software applications as needed.
g. Primary focus will be support of the Engineering, Product Engineering and Document Control Organizations

4) Job Scope
Works with all levels of the organization, addressing problems of a diverse nature. The BSA utilizes their knowledge of business operations and business applications to assist in the design and implementation of automated solutions to business requirements. The BSA must be able to effectively function in the role of project leader or team member, and demonstrate the ability to exercise sound judgment within generally defined practices and policies. Due to the diversity of the customer-base, the ability to communicate effectively by altering delivery and content to meet the needs of the audience is essential.
5) Minimum education, experience, and qualifications:
a. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in Computer Science or Business.
b. 5+ years working with or within the assigned functional area resulting in a good understanding of business processes and data flow.
c. In-depth understanding of integrated systems and data reporting.
d. In-depth understanding of product data management (PDM) systems.
e. Experience in a complex system manufacturing environment.
f. Demonstrated business modeling experience utilizing structured analysis and design methodologies that resulted in the implementation of an automated business solution.
g. Good project management skills – experience with global implementations a plus.
h. Excellent communication skills – presentation, written, verbal.
