My name is Daniel Toledo and I am a Brazilian student of material
engineering at the University of São Carlos, SP. I am currently in the
fifth year and I would like to work overseas as a trainee to put in
practice the knowledge I have acquired at the university as well as to help0
the company to reach its goals.
I have just finished in Brazil a trainee program in the red ceramics
area. My responsibility included conducting tests to characterize
products from different companies, using measures such as shrinkage,
apparent porosity, flexion resistance, dilatometry and X-ray. These
companies usually have limited knowledge and do not know modern
methodologies to improve their products. The cooperation with the
university has been very useful to them, as they can obtain, for ex,
a product of improved quality just by using the right proportion of raw
material determined in our experiments.
I have recently attended the intensive course " Solving problems in the
ceramic material industry, using techniques of advanced
characterization", when I was introduced to many advanced techniques
such as SEM, TEM, STEM, FT-IR, FT-Raman, EDS and X-ray diffraction.
Moreover, various real cases of advanced characterization in the
industry were presented and discussed. I have also attended a course on
Biomaterials last September, during the IV Southern Market Congress of
Students on Science and Material Engineering,.
As you have noticed my main interest area is ceramic, in particular
advanced structural ceramics and bioceramics, and I am looking for an
opportunity to work in this field after I graduate late January.
I would be available to start the trainee program in March 2003, for 6-9
months period or as long as needed. I am waiting for your answer.
Thank you very much for your attention.
