Main Functional Role & Responsibilities
To design and develop mixed signal circuits in a multi-disciplinary design environment focusing on RF, analog and mixed signal IP.

Mixed signal Engineers will report to the Mixed signal design manager
Experience
Requires 5 years + plus in a wireless/data communications IC design environment.
Core Skills
1. CMOS analogue IC design.
1.1 Design of sigma delta Analogue to digital and digital to analogue converters
1.1.1 A good understanding of data converter design based on oversampling and noise shaping techniques using switched capacitor sampled data techniques.
1.2 Design of basic analogue circuit blocks.
1.2.1 Opamps single ended miller, folded cascodes, differential
1.2.2 Comparators
1.2.3 PLL high speed PLL design techniques.
1.2.4 Voltage and current references.
1.3 Layout
1.3.1 Layout and verification of analogue cells.
1.3.1.1 Experience of DRC and LVS.
1.4 Testing
1.4.1 Analogue
1.4.1.1 Design for test of analogue circuits.
1.4.1.2 Experience of breadboarding and debug of final silicon.
1.4.1.3 Experience of specifying analogue test for ATE testers.
1.4.2 Digital
1.4.2.1 A good overview of general digital test methodologies and techniques.

2. Digital signal processing
2.1 Specification and design of digital filters for data communication.
2.1.1 Use Matlab/Simulink or similar package.
2.2 Appreciation of general digital modulation/demodulation techniques.
2.2.1 Minimum - FSK, GFSK, GMSK, BPSK.
Desirable skills
1. Digital design
1.1 RTL coding VHDL/Verilog.
1.2 Synthesis and test

2. Chip level integration and verification using verilog behavioral models for analog component.
3. Interfacing to independent foundries.(TSMC, UMC )
4. Experience of the Cadence Analog Artist design environment.
4.1 Spectre analog circuit simulation
4.2 Spectre/verilog mixed mode simulation
4.3 Virtuoso cell level editor
4.4 Dracula DRC and LVS (Now called Vampire)

Qualifications
B.Eng., B.Sc. or higher in Electronics, Mathematics or Computing related fields.
